If you’re a TikTok user, you know that the app is a great way to share short videos with your friends. But what happens if you want to save those videos for later? This article will show you how to save TikTok videos to your camera roll or computer. So whether you’re new to TikTok or an experienced user, keep reading for instructions on how to download videos and save them for later.
Things To Know Before Downloading a TikTok Video

Before you save any videos from the TikTok app, you should know a few things. Firstly, while it’s easy to save videos on your phone or computer, it’s important to remember that you should only download videos that you have the right to. This means that you should only download videos from public accounts that allow downloading. If you download a video from a private account or one that doesn’t allow downloading, you could be violating the TikTok terms of service. This might make it difficult to save videos from a profile you have blocked or unfollowed on TikTok.
It’s also important to know that downloaded TikTok videos have lower quality than the original ones. This is because TikTok compresses videos when they’re uploaded to their servers. When you download a video, you’re just downloading the compressed version. If you want to download a TikTok video in its original quality, you’ll need to use a screen recording tool like QuickTime (for Mac) or Apowersoft Free Screen Recorder (for Windows).
Am I allowed to save a video from TikTok?
Yes! TikTok videos are meant to be shared, and there are several ways to download them. The only thing to consider is that you’re not downloading or saving a video from the TikTok app that contains copyrighted material. Although it’s not illegal to download TikTok videos you want to watch again, it would be illegal to post, share or distribute something that is subject to copyright. This can include photos, screenshots, or audio within a clip.

You should also note that you cannot download your own videos from TikTok, only those of other users.
How to Download TikTok Videos
There are a few different ways to download and save videos from TikTok, and the exact instructions all depend on the device you’re using. Regardless of whether you use an iPhone/iOS or Android phone, the steps are the same. But you will need to download TikTok videos in a different way on a computer or laptop.
How to Download a TikTok Video on iPhone and Android
- Open TikTok and find the video you want to download.
- Tap on the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select Save Video.

The video will now be saved to your camera roll or gallery.
How to Download TikTok Videos on a Computer
There are a few different ways to download TikTok videos on your computer, but we’ll show you two of the most popular methods. Both of these methods are free.
The first method is to use a Chrome extension like TikTok Video Downloader. Once you’ve installed the extension, follow these steps:
- Go to the TikTok website and find the video you want to download.
- Click on the extension icon in your browser’s toolbar.
- Click on the Download button.
- The video will now be saved to your PC.
The second method is to use a website specifically for downloading TikTok videos (we used savett.cc for this demonstration, but be very careful on these kinds of websites). Follow these steps:
- Go to your chosen video download site and enter the video URL.
- Click on the Download button.
- The video will now be saved to your computer.

There is no way to save all of your favorite videos at once, so you will need to repeat this process to save more than one video.
Can I Download a TikTok Live Video?
Yes, you can. While you can’t download live videos from TikTok, you can save them as soon as they’re over. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to the TikTok app and find the live video you want to download
- Wait for the live video to end
- Tap on the Share button at the bottom of the screen
- Select the save option.
- The video will now be saved to your camera roll or gallery.
How to Save TikTok Videos Without a Watermark
When you save a TikTok video using the methods above, there will be a watermark. This is to protect the rights of the video creator and to ensure that you aren’t downloading a video without proper attribution.
The good news is that you can remove the watermark from a video that’s already been saved to your camera roll or gallery, but this will require a bit of extra work. You will need to use an app, and there are a few apps that do the job.
For demonstration purposes, we’re going to use inShot. It’s one of the most popular options and promises not to reduce TikTok video quality. Here’s how to remove the watermark on TikTok videos:
- Firstly, download the TikTok video to your device using the above instructions
- Open the inShot app (it’s available on iPhone and Android)
- Select the video you want to edit from your gallery or camera roll
- Tap on the Watermark tab
- Tap on the Remove Watermark button
- The watermark will now be removed from the video
- Save the final video.
Can I download a video without a TikTok account?
You can save TikTok videos without an account, but you will need to use a third-party website or app as the TikTok app doesn’t allow it.
If you want to save a TikTok video without an account, we recommend using TikTokDownload.com. This website is free to use and does not require you to sign up for an account either. Paste the URL of the video you want to download and click on the Download button. This will then land in your downloads folder on your device when complete.
